Default Guide on 'How to Create a Guide'! - 05-09-2012, 04:34 PM

Here's a short guide on... well.. how to create a guide!

Making an enjoyable, funny, helpful, and overall entertaining guide is not too difficult to create. So why are there some that stick out to us as terrible?

Scripting

Page Breaks

The easiest step to create your emotionless text bearable is to add breaks. (and no, that doesn't mean a *STOP READING* kind of break )

Adding breaks is easy and yet it somehow escapes people's grasp like smoke. By entering breaks it makes the page easier to read, and much more appealing to the eye.

Not only does it look good, but it keeps your information organized.

To add a break, press the "Enter" key, and your line of text will go down however many times you wish.

Gram4r

n0bdy cn ud3rstnd u 1f yu typ l1k3 t1s, nd qu1t3 frnk1y 1tz anny1ng. th1s m4k3s u l00k unsm4rt, nd peepl3 w1ll atom4ticlyy b trn3d 0ff buy 1t.

^Nobody wants to try to decipher your guide, yet alone gain knowledge on the subject that they're looking to understand. The better grammar you use, the more people will read.

Color Organization

After adding breaks, you can further emphasize the difference between topics by adding color. If you're explaining how to kill KBD in red, and how to use Ancient Magics in blue, people will recognize the color change (hopefully... ) and will notice a change in topics as well.

To add color, simply press the drop down arrow of the A button next to the sizes box, select your color, and type between the COLOR and /COLOR brackets that appear. When you submit the thread, your text will be all pimped out.

Immediately Grabbing Attention

When you start off your thread, you want to have something that will immediately grab your audiences attention. Comical beginnings usually have the best luck.
But what if you're having a serious topic?
If your topic is about a serious matter, then I'd suggest starting off with a question that the audience will want to read further to discover the answer.

Language and Detail

The language you use is very important in a guide. Using sophisticated language makes the guide appear more intelligent and also makes it more professional.

Detail is also vital. The more depth you cover, the better your guide will be [to an extent].

Images

This is an extremely important part of a good guide. To take a screenshot, press the Print Screen key. Then, if you plan on modifying the image in any way, upload it into Paint, or a similar program. Make the changes you would like.

Now go to TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting, and click "Browse". Select your photo then hit ok, and then click Upload Now!

Now copy and paste the "IMG Code For Message Boards And Forums" into your thread. Boom! When you post the thread, the image will be where you pasted the code!

Conclusion

In conclusion, once you have followed these steps, your guide will look much more bearable, intriguing, and organized. Every little thing adds up, so make sure to double-check everything that you do!

Thanks for reading my guide and I hope this helps people, after this I don't want people using poor grammar and everything else.

Literary devices? Why would you even use literary devices in a guide? The entire point of a guide is to help people who aren't bright in the first place. So, simplicity would actually be way better than trying to make yourself seem more intellectual.

I included this because, I like metaphors in my guides, helps me understand. Maybe other people feel the same way.

Okay, you have proven your point, you don't like them. But I personally like them.
