Default Xbox 360 controllers - 06-12-2012, 01:36 PM

Right so both my Xbox 360 controllers won't work..
I've changed batteries didn't work
I think it has something to do with the middle button it seems to be abit stiff when I press it in but I don't want to open it just in-case I mess anything up..

What is SG's advice on this matter?

Have you tried taking the controller apart and putting it back together? When you press the middle button it should show the controller's battery life?

Well if it doesn't work, wouldn't you rather take the chance than buy another $55 controller?

I've opened my control before to put a mod in it.
The only thing you have to worry about when opening it, is losing buttons.
So if you got that under control, then just open it, you'll be fine.

There is like 95% chance you wont mess it up.
The rest of the chance is that you do the circuit board in because your sitting on your bed with a carpet on the floor, and your mums stitched sweater on.
Take it apart, wiggle the circuit board if very nervous, go down to shirt and shorts on wooden floor and touch the unpainted side of a radiator, then there is no electric charge in you.
Open it up, if you cant move the circuit board that is when you know your controller is screwed, I have taken apart 3 with a stuck circuit board and they snap every time, so if it is stuck leave it.
When undone keep the side with buttons upside down, nothing can fall out. An alternative is to tape the buttons down before taking apart.
Hope I helped.
(Otherwise with a damp J cloth / dish cleaning cloth wipe the edges of the xbox menu button and that should work).

get a torq security bit 8 or 9, take apart the controller (there's is a screw behind the sticker where the battery goes) get some toothpicks and q-tips and clean out all the gunk, put it back together and it should work better than it did before it was broke.

It's already broken so it can't get worse!

If you don't take it apart how will you learn how to fix the problem? It could save you 20 which you could spend on Natalie. ;D
