Default Progress Thread - 05-06-2014, 09:13 PM

So lately I've been attempting to put together an organized work out plan in order to bulk up for/during summer.

I currently weigh 135 pounds (61.2kg). I have actually gained 2 pounds since I've been working out, but I hope to reach my goal of 140 in a few weeks.

My progress is to go from 135 -- 140 -- 145 -- End of summer : 150

My nightly workout goes as follows:

. 5-6 sets of 8 pull ups. (40-48 total)
. 3 sets of 20 push ups (60 total)
. 3 sets of 25 sit ups/crunches (75 total)
. 2 sets of 20 bicep curls each arm (80 total)
. 2 sets of forearm curls each arm (80 total)

***Using a 20Lb weight for the curls and all that.

I've also been trying to limit my consumption of shit food and attempting to focus in on high energy/protein based foods.

I'll post some progress pics on here weekly as long as I don't forget.

Hoping to increase the amount of repetitions/weight as time progresses and once AP Tests are over.

Current: 5'9 135

trying doing some compact super sets if you plan on gaining muscle

example: 8-10 reps of bench pressing then doing push ups, or working the chest and then doing the back

dont forget, for mass do 8-10 reps with more weights

for lean do more reps with lower weights

check out mike chang, he has some really good videos of exercises for every muscle

Not necessarily, the best way to increase muscle mass is repetition, but if you want to increase strength then increasing weight is the way to go.

;; gl on your goals, my body can gain or lose 5 lbs in a week lol it's crazy

toned is looked at by the body fat percentage.

With your analogy that would mean a skinny guy with abs showing has more muscle mass than a bodybuider who doesn't have an outline of his abs. In reality, the skinny guy has a lower body fat % as compared to the body builder.

The whole idea of doing more repititions with a lower weight is to increase the duration of the intensity, hence the whole idea of "burning fat".

and for @Brady, check out bodybuilding.com, you can find some amazing 12 week programs that give a complete nutrition guide as well as exercises. If you honestly stick to their program without "cheating", youll see gains. The concept of super sets is similar to p90x, muscle confusion. For example, on monday of p90x you would be focusing on the chest and back. Thats also why they quickly switch from doing push ups to doing pull ups. The only difference is that p90x gives you a fundamental teaching of how you should be training in the gym if you ever encounter a platue in your gains
