Default My roommate. - 11-07-2014, 12:16 PM

I'm having a few problems with one of my roommates and I just need to get it off my chest before I do something stupid like cut his nuts off in his sleep. Really getting tired of his shit.
So we'll call him Joe, even though that's not his real name for the sake of anonymity. Joe is from New Hampshire and comes from a seemingly conservative family, as he never really played video games, or watched a lot of TV as a kid, nor is he athletic, or good looking. He's got acne all over his face from all the crap he eats at our dining hall, because he refuses to eat vegetables or anything healthy, except milk. This kid drinks milk like no other I swear he must have been breastfed till age 13 because he fucking loves milk.

Recently, my other roommate who's name I won't mention brought his GameCube from home over to the room and set it up, along with Mario Kart. Since then, Joe's been playing Mario Kart at least 8 hours a day, yelling at the TV when he fucks up on Rainbow Road, or gets hits by green shells. I can no longer study in my room because he'll always be in there playing Mario Kart.

Yesterday, at around 11pm, I was thinking about going to bed, because I had to wake up at 7:30 to get up for my 8:30 class. Nope. Joe had other plans, and felt the need to fold his clothes that he got from the dryer, at 1am. I was up till 2am because of this prick, and ended up sleeping through my alarm, and missing most of my classes today because of him.

Simply remove the item that causes all the problems.

Get rid of the GameCube, buy him a jug of milk.

easiest thing is to say something to him, swearing about shit and cursing him behind his back isnt gonna help doesnt matter if hes the freak u described or your anger is biased however i guarentee you no flatmate or housemate wants to be in a flat with someone they hate or dislike so just treat him like a cunt and make him change, if not im not sure if youre staying in shared accomadation through the place you are studying or privately if private speak to ur other mates and kick him out the cunt, if the uni fuck knows just spit on his food

remove the disk from the cube and hide it
when he freaks out looking for it, tell him you havn't touched it, or be honest and tell him he has anger issues

tell him you have to get up early next time and to fold his clothing quiter? why did it keep you up? say something. if someone is being rude, bring it to their attention.
2am and playing drums "dude i have to wake up at 7, can you do that another time?"

Aight, you want my advice?

I'd recommend talking to him about it, be reasonable to his situation. Maybe he's scared of being so far away from home, and he's comforted by the GameCube; ergo, his obsession with it. As psychologically terrifying as it sounds to simply have a conversation with someone in fear of not liking their response, human's are actually rather emotional creatures. He isn't going to snap at you, get a gun and blow your head off for simply setting some guidelines to your room. Plus, if the situation worsens than it's your RA/DA's responsibility to handle it accordingly, you don't even need to get your hands dirty.

I'd set some guidelines, make sure he knows that school and sleep come before any sort of video gaming. If he's annoying, let him know, and if he doesn't quiet down, unplug the power cord or something until he knows you're serious. We're not spiteful people, we'll usually react to hostile situations accordingly. Just have patience.

Break his skull with a frying pan. He will go to bed and will be out for a long time. Or take away the cord and hide it. Works every time.

Tell your mate to take the GameCube away? Either that or just confront him about it and tell him to chill.

Does he go out and drink at event or anything?
