Keep a rubberband around your wrist. Whenever you feel the need to cut, just snap the rubberband.
Or get a stress ball. (Pain-free, but really can help)
Listen to music, go outside for a walk, play some games to get your mind off it.
Ever try letting everything out to a close friend or family member?

I'd say talk to your family/friends/relatives about it.
When I'm mad about something I'd play Silabgarza.

my parents just would't understand, but one time a really good friend saw one of the cuts when we were working together. and I told her about it but she didn't understand or have anything helpful to say about it.

What Lizzy said.

I've had a few good friends of mine to have the same problem. Just do anything to get your mind off of it. Watch something funny on television, talk to someone who you can trust to listen to you (if you have anyone like that). Listen to your favorite song. Listen to anything upbeat that will put you in a better mood.

I suggest investing into a punching bag or some sort of fitness class if you don't have the motivation to exercise on your own. Exercise releases chemicals into the body that naturally make you feel better, plus you'll be getting into better shape. Every time you're feeling a bit down/angry, go for a run or work the bag for a few minutes.

Two birds with one stone.

I'd suggest punching a pillow, or talk to someone who will listen to you.

I don't think you guys understand...

You don't cut when you're mad.
It starts when you're depressed or sad... or trying to get attention... and turns into a habitual ordeal.
It's just like breathing.
It's something you do naturally.

Same situation with cutting. It's just something you do when you're bored, sad, angry, or random feelings.
That's how it progresses.

Take it from me. I did years ago.

What Lizzy said is a great way to solve it.
If you haven't cut yourself in a week+ then obviously you know how to stop.
Just keep that motivation going.

The thing that stopped me was I went too far with it and almost killed myself.
That was my reality check.

Little something no one knew about me I guess :\

Sometimes we just need a friend.
Someone to hold us when you can't stand.
Sometimes even to pretend like you matter for that split second that everything seems to be crashing down.
And sometimes it's just easier to say goodbye.
