Default First Car Advice? - 11-30-2013, 09:59 PM

Hey, the time's coming around and I'm starting to look into cars.

What I'm currently looking at is a used 2007 VW Jetta, 30,000 miles, with no history of accidents, or damages. ($3000)

I am looking at lots of other potential cars, but I want some advice on what car I should look for in particular.

My budget is 2500$, but I'm willing to go to 3 depending on how I approve of the car.

I will not be buying new, but either previously leased/preowned.

What I am looking for in a car:
Something that rarely needs repairs
Good mileage
Decent looks
Good safety

tl;dr a car I can comfortably own for many years to come.

Any advice?

Honda Prelude, you might have to go a bit over your budget. But trust me it's worth it.
I have the sport edition myself, and it's fantastic. Been running for about 2 years now

Get something that is good enough to run for a couple years on practice, seeing as you probably are just getting your license.

I'd go with a decently good car that will not repel girls away. That is in your budget ofc.

nissan, toyota and honda are your best bets.

Parts for each of these companies of cars don't cost as much lets say, a subaru, or a bmw, don't know about volkswagen as it's expensive here in australia, might be a different story to where you live

Just go for a car that a female has owned, females tend to less thrash their cars ha, doesn't look like shit and its had service history

nobody knows my name on here besides you lol. eclipse 3000gt are both crap tbh. corvette's are good but he'd be looking at an 80's vette for 2500-3000. which are nice

edit: didn't wanna double post but i'd honestly look into some corolla's or camry's from like 99-03. For your price range you prpbably wont find much newer. Idk where you're located though so im going off new york prices and stuff. I know a pretty good amount about cars though, ive been around a car almsot all of my life, i built my last one myself. you can ask me anything

If you're look for durability and good performance in your price range, your best bet will be 1990-2002 toyota camry or corolla (They are not physically appealing but they are good). Honda civics are also pretty good and they do not look as bad.
