Default Removal of wisdom teeth. - 04-06-2014, 07:02 AM

I don't know if this is the right term but whatever.

18th of april I'm gonna get my 4 wisdom teeth removed, which is a pretty serious jawoperation.

Now, I recently got into Muay Thai and I wonder if any of you know how long I should quit?

I don't want to get Thaiboxing again with a half healed jaw and break it or something.

Maybe a week or so if that. It will start healing in the next couple days.

Make sure you take the meds they give you and so forth.
The pain killers you will only need like the first two days and that's about it.

@Arcanex
Longer than this.

You'll need to keep your blood pressure pretty low for a while so your gums don't start bleeding again, that means NO exercise, seriously. You'll be left with quite big holes in your mouth, you'd be surprised.

I'd say give it two weeks at the minimum and if it still feels odd, give it another week. The worst thing you can do is open up those wounds again by increasing your blood pressure.

Source: Had all of my wisdom teeth out, too.

Yeah, the thing I was worried about is that My jaw will be weakened and I might end up getting a fracture, that there are important nerves there, and that it might start to bleed again.

Mhmm. It'll be very fragile for a while and really susceptible to temperature change. Honestly, opening up the wound again is the worst thing you could do. Aside from the obvious bleeding and discomfort, you'll open up the wound to infection.

Better safe than sorry.

Would it be harmfull to go to the gym and take some exercise and just leave the muay thai alone for some weeks?

Two weeks is what I took when i got mine removed. I also do Thai kick boxing.
But tbf you'll know if you feel right or not. Just listen to what your body is telling you and you'll figure it out.

For the first week, yeah. You really do have to keep your blood pressure down as that will be the main cause of bleeding.

For the first week you really shouldn't do anything at all.

After that you are able to start going out and shit but nothing physically demanding or you can cause bleeding and slow down the healing process.
