Default -Grow and Maintain a Beard like a Boss- - 10-14-2014, 12:40 PM

Hello, community.
On this very fine evening I would like to share with you some tips & tricks to make the most of your beard.
Mind you, not everyone is meant to have a beard, and with some insight you'll know if your time has come or not.

There are generally 3-4 types of beard growth.

The Full Beard.
What every real man dreams of, a beard that is solid in growth (not patchy) and it covers your entire face.
Spoiler

The Strongman. (Yes, I made the name up)
The Strongman is when your moustache grows fuller than the rest of your beard, there are several ways to style this to your advantage, but we'll get to that later.
Spoiler

The Neckbeard.
No further explanation needed, go shave.

Last but not least, a patchy beard.
The Patchy beard can be a bit hard to deal with and often requires time & patience to get it to look good.
Spoiler

Let's get to the growing part.
You'll never know if a beard suits you unless you give it a shot. (I know a majority of you can't grow a beard yet, but a day will come where you can and you'll want to try)

Now most people at 16-25, unless your parents fed you beaver steroids and forced you to chop wood daily, will not have a full beard. Do NOT let that discourage you.
To get a real understanding of what type of beard growth you have, you need to let it grow.
Give it 4-16 weeks and if it still looks like shit (after grooming) shave it off. No harm no foul (it makes for a great conversation at the bar; ''If you're wondering why my beard is so ugly/ unkempt, I lost a bet with a friend'' you'll probably need a backstory as well, like who could save the most children from a burning apartment.

Try not to style or groom your beard too much during this period, and definetly dont clean shave any areas (except the neck line.)
I did do this the first time around, it ended up looking so bad I was forced to shave completely.

To get your beard to grow to it's full potential requires certain maintenance nonetheless. Use shampoo or a facial cleanser twice a day to remove grease and dead skin. This will stimulate hair growth as well as hygiene.

Once you're satysfied that you won't suddenly sprout 50,000 more hairs over your face, it's time to style it.
This would take waaaaaaaay to long to describe, so I suggest some google research.
Keep in mind that it should compliment your face, and take into account if you plan on letting it grow or not.

Let's get to maintaining that fucking panty-dropper.
Some people say beard oil is for pussies, well to those ratfaced faggots I say fuck you.
Beard oil is great, it softens your beard, hydrates and keeps the skin underneath clean, and it smells fucking fantastic. Like man musk.
Beard oil can be pretty expensive, and if you're like me and spend the majority of your money before the end of the month, making your own isn't that hard, and guess what? It's a hell of a lot cheaper.
There are several recipes online just a google search away.
Find one that works for you, that gives the effect you want. Here's the beard oil that I make.

Carrier Oil:
10 ml of grapeseed oil

Essential Oils:
4 drops of lime oil
1 drop of rosemary oil
1 drop of cedarwood oil

I won't go into the health benefits of the carrier oils or essential oils, but this was the perfect oil for my skin and my beard.

Then there's something called a beard comb, and if your beard is longer than 3cm (roughly 1,5 inches) you should probably consider getting one. Again, an economic solution is getting a regular comb.

Moustache wax is for those of you planning on growing a solid moustache, and dont want the hairs in your mouth all the time.
I can't tell you how to make your own quite yet, but I'll get into it.
I currently buy my own moustache wax, seeing as it's inexpensive.

Here's what a daily beard maintanance looks like.
Get up in the morning, wash your face and beard (at this point, when your beard is quite long, use shampoo and conditioner) washing your face is just a bonus.
Dry it gently with a towel (don't use a hair dryer, it actually harms your beard hairs)
Apply beard oil to beard + moustache (if it's not organic, don't get it in your mouth) massage it in and let it sit for 10-15 minutes (while you have your coffee, or cut down the first tree of the day.)
Apply moustache wax if you like.
Do whatever it is you do during your days, preferably something manly.

When you get home you can rinse your beard of any wax grease, grime or blood that's built up over the day.
Depending on how rough your beard is, you might want to apply oil or conditioner again.
Comb through your beard and before you go to sleep spend 30-120 minutes admiring it.

As for any ''miracle products'' that increase beardgrowth, I can't say that I've tried any, and I haven't heard of anyone who has.
If you do decide to try something and it works for you, let me know!
However, I have heard the Vitamin B (Biotin) stimulates beard growth.

I have heard that excercising boosts testosterone levels, and in retrospect increases beard growth.
I recommend giving it shot, the worst that can happen is that you get shredded trying to grow that beard.

I will probably think of more things to add, and feel free to come with any input and/ or experiences.

I suppose it would, in my experience the ladies prefer a clean shave down there.
Strange, I know.

As I said I don't buy any oil, I make it myself
Depends a lot of your skin and beard type, you should probably figure that out first!
Post progress!

Lol owned.
There doesn't need to be, but if you want your beard to look good and your face to feel the same way, these steps will help.
