Default Immigrating - 01-16-2013, 01:40 PM

I've been thinking a lot about this recently and was wondering if anyone here has immigrated to another country.
I'm looking towards immigrating to either Canada(Nova Scotia or Newfoundland specifically) or North/south Carolina.

I'm looking to do this in around 5 years or so, just want to figure out some stuff now so I know what to aim for.

Any advice on this topic would be appreciated.

i immigrated in like 3 or 4 countries depending on how you count it in.

It's not really a big deal, the first few months you gotta get maybe used to it, but afterwards it's just the same

The advice I'm looking for is how people have gone about doing it. Like what specific route to take like, for example; looking for place to live then job or vice versa, or visiting first then doing so.

Edit: I have done some googling, but didn't find much help from doing so besides from potential areas to immigrate to.

aaaaah, well for my family it was like this : looking for a job (the visits were made by previous family members) and then you go there, work for a while and if you don't like it you keep moving.

i'd suggest to do an order like this:

visit first.

either job or city, depends on whether you want to live in a specific city or just the country

Hmm. I may have to do that kind of route.
Although I wouldn't be able to get a Work Visa as that'd mean them paying for me to get over there and I don't think places like Target would do that for a regular-ass sales assistant (I have no work experience, so I'd need to start somewhere ).

Did your family get a place to live before arriving to work, or after? I need to be sure I do this right.

EDIT: Just the country. I'm thinking the mostly English side of Canada, a fairly nice place in 'Merica, or the Netherlands. I have a broad range of where I could immigrate to, but would prefer away from Europe/the UK.

nope you first gotta get work, but if you want to live in a specific city you'll have to search in that specific city for work, if not you can search in the whole country.

anyways i definitely suggest you to get a work place first, since else you're screwed

--> its almost impossible, since no1 will rent you an appartement or a house if you're coming from a different country and you dont even have a job

Alright, cheers for the advice. I guess I better decide on where to immigrate to before anything then.

Canada weather is pretty crazy.

Might I suggest Florida? Jobs aren't too difficult to find (at least where I live), and the weather is always nice. It's 80 degrees at the moment.

So is the UKs weather lol.

What part of Florida do you live in? The job market is my main concern about immigrating, with the process being my other main concern.
