Default Blackberry in a cuppa. - 06-05-2012, 05:14 AM

Alright so I just dropped my BlackBerry Bold 9780 in my cup of tea. Well, not exactly in my tea, but I spilled my tea on it and had it try literally within 5 seconds.

It didn't get soaked, it just got splashed on and it was working alright, but to be safe I took the battery out and dried the inside.

Then, when I turned it back on, the memory card had been corrupt, so that no longer works.

It then decided to go one step further and type different characters when I type what I was to type. For example when I type "w" it types "wh".

I found that to stop this from occurring I can actually hold the volume up key while typing and it types what I want to type. However, the scroll pad seems to now be messed up.

So, I have to hold the volume key, type my password in, type "blackberry messenger" then enter, then type a persons name in and press enter to talk to them without the scroll pad. I can't really do much with the phone...

I looked on the inside, and on the top left there's a little piece of red paper, perhaps that means it's water damaged? Also, this happened on the battery too. There's usually a white little sticker and that has also turned red.

Anyone how what I can do?

I've got it in a bag of rice now.

well... you fucked up with turning it back on. Might fried some electronics in there. Just take it to a shop, nothing you can do atm. (The rice trick sometimes works, but you do it before you even try to turn it on for about a week. Short circuits are deadly to electronics)

I've fixed 4 water-broken Blackberry's before. Turned all of them back on after dropping them in the water, and then put them in rice. They only took a matter of hours to fix.

As I need to use my phone today, I've got it in rice but I'm taking it out in 25 minutes to use because I'm going out and I'll need it with me to contact a few people. So, I'm just going to have to deal with holding the volume key in for the day.

I'll then put it in rice for the whole night when I get home later on. Unless miraculously it decides to fix itself when I put the battery back into it, in 25 minutes.

Seem's like you should try your luck with a new phone mate

The bag of rice trick only works immediately after it gets wet.

If your phone is already acting up, then the best thing you can do is dump it and get a new phone.

Btw: Red = water damage.

ball cancer too, douches.
