Default Something I learned today at my graduation after party. - 06-08-2013, 03:40 PM

So today I had my graduation ceremony, got my diploma and stuff yadayadayada.
Afterwards, my family and I went to a school hosted after party at a hotel where we had dinner. There was music too, and a dance floor.
I've never been a big dancer, I've always felt awkward dancing and stuff, self-conscious, insecure.
But even so, my mother asked me to dance with me, and at first I said no, but then I saw her heart break in her eyes. She was crushed, and I hated seeing my mother like that, so I reluctantly said, ok let's dance.
We walked onto the floor, and it wasn't that bad honestly. I just sort of moved my upper body from side to side, legs up and down, simple stuff. We danced for about 3-4 minutes and then she said she was done and we walked back to the table. She hugged me and said, "Thank you for dancing with me." Something so small made her so happy, something as simple as a mother sharing a dance with her son.
I can't help but stress the importance of family with this post. They're the most important thing in the world to most people, and I feel like shit for taking them for granted all of these years...
Please, don't make the same mistakes I have and take your family for granted, because while you may lose girlfriends/boyfriends, friends, pets, or other important people in your life, your family will always be with you, and they will, aside from very few unfortunate individuals, always love you no matter what, so every now and again, it doesn't hurt to give a little bit of that love back.
Cheesy as fuck I know but it's true... I'm gonna miss the fuck outta my mom and dad when I move.

True... that's all I would say, but am not interested in a infraction...

Well later then never. At least you realized that. Props on making momma happy!

Hey, at least you realized it before it was too late. I'm glad you get to spend this last month with them knowing what you know now. Maybe it'll give you a little time to let them know how appreciative you are (if they don't already know).

I don't even know why people would be mad at their parents, you never know when they might go, and when they do you'll be there thinking of all the times she just wanted to be with his/her son.
