Default Thinking of buying a laptop. - 09-08-2012, 05:07 PM

So lately my parents have been saying they might get me a new laptop for my birthday. They say it's for school but I also want it to be for gaming too. Does this look any good?

I got this for 750$ including norton antivirus (could just pirate it) and a 1 year warranty. It works pretty good for me except if you plan to play games you might want to get more ram added.

What sort of games?

"2nd Gen Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor
Features a 6MB cache and 2.2GHz processor speed with Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz."

This might need improving depending on what games...

Meh, League of Legends, various MMOs, that sort of thing. Not planning on going all out and getting freaking Skyrim or some other massive game.

Heck yes it can. If this thing that I'm using now can handle LoL, hell yes that thing can. Besides the ratings it's got are from gamers.

Well like i said it looks very good for the price especially.

I'd recommend looking at how much a replacement processor might be though? then when you got spare cash, ave up and buy + fit that? well worth the time and effort, then you'll be able to play the game really well and some top notch games along side it

Not really worried about running it to it's highest capabilities, just to the extent where it doesn't lag like a madapaka. Besides my parents only intend it to be mainly for school purposes and won't be willing to let me get another processor. Besides I ain't good with hardware stuff.

Smh... it's a laptop. He's asking for help picking one out, not knowing what's in it and you're going to suggest that he upgrades the processor to play better games!? The fuuu-

It has a dedicated mobile graphics card on it with 2 gigs of ram. You'll be fine with what you have.

Only thing I don't like about it, is the way it looks. That's just me.
