Default Internet - 10-30-2011, 01:42 PM

So for the past year, I've been having internet troubles. My computer has gradually been getting slower and slower each day. I've done everything my amateur knowledge could allow me to do. So now I've come to SG for a little help. I'll tell you the history for the past year on this computer. November of 2010 I moved to a new location which is known for bad quality internet. I said "Ok" and tested it. It worked fine, just a little bit slower, not too bad. Then, a week or two later, my mother decides to get a Linksys router from walmart. I know it's not good quality mainly because it's from walmart, but we didn't have any problems with it before she hooked up the wireless. Since then, my internet would slow down and about 5 months later, it started shutting off randomly. My father refuses to call the internet company, Blueridge, because he never even uses the computer. He has that, "since I don't use it I don't give a shit" attitude about it. So, till this day, the internet keeps going off, infact it's off right now as I'm typing. As long as I stay on the same page I can continue with what I'm doing, but I can't click anything. I was thinking maybe the router or the modem isn't working properly, but we had that checked a little while ago and they said it was working perfectly.

Things I have done to fix this problem myself:

Restart the router/modem multiple times
Shut off everything for around 24 hours.
Set my computers visual settings to the lowest settings
Set my priorities for programs I don't use to low and the ones I do use to very high
Deleted programs I don't use anymore
Ran virus quick scan from windows defender
Cleaned out my folders
Deleted minecraft/SG/etc and re installed them.
Downloaded advanced system care (It just freezes up on my everytime I open it now.)

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Mods, I ask you to not take this down until I say. Your suggestion may not work, so don't take it down right away please.

If you figure out my problem, I thank you in advance, It means a lot.

You could call the Blueridge company yourself, just explain the problem. I'm sure they have a hotline.

Yes I would try to call them yourself.
See if they can help you at all.
But my best guess is maybe the internet to your
actual house is jacked up. Mine was very bad, so
we called our service provider and they found out
the wiring of our internet on the outside of our house was bad.
So maybe this is the case.
