Default Apple / Microsoft - 03-09-2012, 03:40 PM

Situation:
I've saved up 800/1000 Pounds.

I was thinking of getting a Macbook Pro, which is what i originally wanted as i like some the mac only tools such as iMovie / Garageband which are simple and functional + ive used them for years now (college / work) so i think its time i invest in one

OR

I was in a mind of i could probably buy a Windows / Microsoft Computer desktop/laptop for the same price which could be fully customized to something really epic.

My Main Uses for either:
Photo Editing / Music Production / Video Editing / Maybe a game or two

Suggestions? i need to get a new something soon i don't thinkmy 6 year old dell will last much longer.

Alright, depends on what game really.

The games you buy at stores like Oblivion, etc don't work on macs. (I've got a macbook pro myself) Some other games don't aswell, i'd say it depends on what game (or two) you were intending to play. They run Runescape pretty well.

But for the rest of the things you need to use a computer for, you'd be better off with a mac.

Uh, there is literally no difference when it comes to Windows and designing. Give me 5 good reasons why a Mac is better than a windows-based computer for designing, it'll take some time, so I'll wait.

Haven't found any good reasons yet? I thought so.

OT; Give me a list of things you want it to do, and an actual budget, not a range of numbers, and I'll get you a list of parts to order.

I prefer a windows OS far more than a Mac Os.
With a mac OS you have to pay for all the upgrades/ updates, the infrastructure and the navigation system is fucked.
Not to mention, a mac isn't specialized for designer programs/ music programs.
In fact, those programs run just as well on a windows based laptop/ computer.
Also, when It comes to customizing performance, both hardware and software you'll be extremely limited by a mac.
Whilst with windows OS/ any other manufacturer, you can change most things within both hardware and software.
I bought a samsung laptop with these specs:
AMD-A8 quadcore processors (1.9ghz each) = 7.2ghz.
8gb RAM.
Radeon dual graphics cards.
64-bit OS.
15.6in screen.
Two hard drives consisting of 500gb each.
Bought it for about 600 euros (which tranlates to like; 500 quid?)
With 800 quid you can get a monster laptop, far better than macbook pro.
(by the way, a macbook pro has roughly the same specs as my laptop, apart from a total of 8,8ghz processer capacity.)
Also, it has a capacity of only 750gb,
