Default New Desktop - 07-31-2012, 02:32 PM

I'm looking to buy a new desktop.
I have a price range of only $100-$200.
Dell Refurbished GX520 Desktop PC with Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 2GB Memory, 250GB Hard Drive and Windows 7 Home Premium (Monitor Not Included): Computers : Walmart.com

Is that a good for it's price, or should I look for something better?

I think it is actually good for the price, would be better to make your "own" pc, but it is cool for the price :P

if you're gonna spend 200$ look for a better one, I don't think 2 gb is good tbh.

I'd buy it. I just don't prefer getting my computers, especially modems, from Wal-Mart.

I prefer Best Buy. >_>

I'm not a very picky person. It's more of what's in the computer, than where it comes from.

Best buy just has a better warranty system and all that good junk. Wal-Mart is alright if you trust it'll work well for a long time.

2GB memory isn't very good, you wouldn't be able to have many processes open without it being laggy and choppy. Basic computers nowadays mostly come with 4gb. It doesn't have a graphics card that comes with it, either, meaning you wouldn't be able to run a lot of games that you'd want to play. SG would probably be a bit laggy frame-rate wise.

To be honest, I think it's better just to save your money for a decent computer when the time comes. That's what I've been doing the past few months.

EDIT: For the money, I guess it's okay. It's not as bad as one might think. But it still is one of the low-end PCs that people buy as a last resort.

Save up your money and if you want I'll build you a computer:
Home
= Cooler Master Elite 361 Black Steel ATX Mini Case, G.Skill Ripjaws 4gb ram, Seagate Barracuda 250gb HDD, AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2ghz Socket AM3, LiteOn Dvd Burner, BIOSTAR AM3 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard, Antec EarthWatts 380W PSU, Windows 7 Home Premium
Total: $500
It's a good computer for the price compared to that.
