Look in the Recycle Bin, his files may still be there.

If that doesn't work do a system restore.

That would be going out of the way.

If your father managed to delete the items from the recycling bin, then you can download a program that searches your active drives and allows you to copy the deleted files and restore them. You can find a program by searching on YouTube or Google.

But since I'm a nice guy..

If I restore files Word asks me what kind of code I want to use, when I use Windows (standard) I get a phile with random symbols. This is with each program I use.

What program did your father use to make those documents? If it was notepad or microsoft word, then you have to have the right version (a file saved in word 2012 won't open in word 2002).

Did your dad delete the files from the recycling bin?

It was made in word 2003 and the coded file was opened in word 2003 too. there are no files in recycle bin.

Try something else besides windows (standard) if possible. If nothing works, then the only advice I can give you would be to either give your father some basic computer lessons or forbid him from ever using the computer again.
