Default Windows 8 help - 01-29-2013, 12:03 PM

Really can't remember if I've already posted this or not.. feel as if i have, but can't seem to find it so... meh. #GoingCrazy.

Anyway I got Windows 8 for Christmas to work on my newish PC I built myself.

I installed it and everything fine, but then when i get on it keeps crashing with no warning and resetting.

I'm not to sure why but presume it's because I hadn't installed a windows 8 driver for my mother bored and other components. (Only have windows XP drivers as of now).

I went to look on the ASUS website at drivers for my motherboard and it turns out that there's no driver for windows 8... what do I do?

I would have thought that when you installed W8 onto your PC that it would have installed the drivers needed to run itself automatically. It is odd if that is the reason for the random power off's. I need more information:

How far into the start-up cycle does it get before shutting down?
Does it get far enough to display a message reporting the error when it comes back on?
What motherboard do you have (exactly)?
Are you running on a 64-bit Windows 8?
Are you certain that all your hardware runs correctly together? (asking since you built it yourself).
Is the shut down instant or do you get a Blue screen first?

BIG thank you to Shane for this awesome sig!
