Default Pc not working. - 03-11-2014, 08:42 PM

To make it short I was changing the strings on my guitar, string touched something in my computer and the image on the screen was gone.

Now my computer will only start when the graphic card isn't plugged in the motherboard.

Also the red DRam led is flashing. Found the failing ram bar but then again I'm thinking it might be a mobo failure for the pci-e and ram slots.

Also thought it might be the power supply? But I'm more and more thinking that the motherboard is the probem

Any thoughts?

No one? I left it at the computer store and hopefully they'll call me back later.

I'm thinking it's the power supply since my computer half shut down like it didn't have enough power to make it all work. I'm being optimist though.

It won't power up when my graphics card is in.

Can't imagine it being the power supply. To be honest, I would have taken it to the computer store before asking anyone here. But like I said, I'll be very surprised if it's the power supply. How did you manage to get the strings in your guitar to come into contact with the inside of your tower?

This is going to sound dumb as fuck. But when this happened to me, I used a diffrent lead.

For example my PC was fucked like this for ages, tried everything. Then i used a... DPI? lead instead of a HDMI lead and it worked again... just a thought.
I know it goers against all logic, but... there you go.

wait a guitar string did that to your computer?

was your guitar plugged in and the string snapped and touched it or was it off and just somehow destroyed it

My computer case was open because it doesn't let the air go through properly. I was putting on new strings and when of them broke under tension (the strings were old as fuck) and went right into the computer makin it look like there was a problem wih the power.

But then again it could be the card or the mobo.

Honestly, the first thing I'd fix is your air circulation issue. You should never have to leave the case open to prevent everything from overheating. The case is for housing and protection. Would have definitely prevented this from happening at the very least.

I'm 90% sure it's the motherboard.
