Default Need Halp! PC related - 05-06-2011, 05:16 AM

I'm not much of a computer wiz, but I can walk my way around a few problems.
My Grandma's computer is doing something, and it's flooring my inexperienced
brain, so I'm calling for help here. She will play her games on it for a while,
than next thing she knows the screen scrambles up locks up and freezes.
Almost looks like an old school cartridge game if you accidentally kick the system?
I don't have pics unfortunately, but I was thinking it's more likely a hardware error
rather than a virus due to the fact that it's almost NEVER online (or connected to the internet).

Some info I can include: (Copypasta from specs online)

HP Pavilion Slimline s3127c

"AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4000+ for TRUE multi-tasking
• 2.1GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache, 2000MHz System Bus"

vvv Moar Specs: vvv

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en...-80451883.html

If anyone knows anything please halp immediately :3

ALSO, if questions needed VM me, getting on a plane in 2 hours and will be unavailable for about 5 after that >.>

1. Download a bios update
2. download malwarebyte and run it
3. Check for drivers update

and all should be fixed

I'd reccommend that you check that your hardware is correctly inserted.

Err, what would BIOS, virus(s) - Malware, or drivers have to do with the MONITOR?
Absolutely nothing.

Ah, correct... Sorta;

I'm suspecting it to be bad thermal paste; if you can, go buy some new paste, and apply it directly to the MOBO. You'll have to solder off the bad paste, then put on new paste.
